What’s Your Ice-Type?

Hubbard Ice Systems highlights ice choice and shows new energy-saving Scotsman's Prodigy-MV 806 ice machine is available from Hubbard Ice SystemsScotsman Prodigy ice machines

Stand 1810, Hotelympia, London ExCeL, 28th April to 1st May 2014

Hubbard Ice Systems will be highlighting the different varieties of ice that are available for specific applications in the hospitality market.  Hubbard distributes the market-leading Scotsman range, offering the largest range of models, from compact undercounters to industrial units, and widest choice of ice, including supercubes, dice, half-dice, flake, cubelet and nugget.  On stand 1810, the company will show how different ice types can provide better solutions for specific requirements.

Hubbard will also be launching the latest Scotsman Prodigy range – ice makers that are claimed to be the smartest yet when it comes to sustainability.  The Scotsman Prodigy-MV machines make dice or half dice cubes.  The P-MV 806, for example, makes up to 390kg of ice per day, the equivalent of 39,000 dice cubes.

The Prodigy controller communicates information about its operating status, signalling when it’s time for routine maintenance or service before it’s an emergency.  It also features ultrasonic ice level-detection technology, which can be programmed up to seven days in advance.  This means the operator can determine how much ice they need, saving electricity and water.

“Many operators are unfamiliar with the variety of ice that is on offer,” says Simon Aspin, commercial director of Hubbard Ice Systems.  “Using the wrong ice is like using the wrong knife – you don’t use a carving knife to peel potatoes.  For example, dice cubes, such as those produced by the P-MV 806, are better than supercubes for blending when making smoothies or iced coffees, because they are easier to crush.  Nugget ice is a great alternative to flake ice for displays, because it is dryer and lasts longer.

“We’ll help visitors find out their operation’s optimum ice-types.”
