Ex-Corrie star Scott Wright in bid to become muscleman.

Ex-Corrie star enlists the help of top sports nutritionist and his magic shakes in his twelve-week bid to become a muscleman

Scott Wright had been letting his fitness slide a bit since his wedding last November. The ex-Corrie star had been eating too much of the wrong sort of food and not exercising enough – the result was a weight gain of two extra stone.   His new wife Kate, herself a personal fitness trainer, was quick to notice, and finally suggested he workout to lose the flab. Stung into action, and never one to do things by half, Scott decided to turn himself from ‘pretty-out-of-shape man’ to ‘beefcake-muscleman’ in twelve weeks.

And who better to support him than Kerry Kayes, the man who regularly helps Ricky Hatton lose weight and keep in shape for his boxing matches? The body make-over programme is based on serious training and careful nutrition using lots of protein supplements developed by Kerry’s own company CNP Professional.

Ever the showman, Scott is filming the whole painful process for a TV documentary charting his transformation over the training period. It’s meant some real grinding exercise regimes, keeping to a real strict diet and learning a lot about what to put into your body to get the best out of it.

"I wouldn’t have been able to do this without Kerry. It’s been a really hard change of lifestyle – no more burgers and chips and fizzy drinks, no more late nights and boozing," says Scott. "But Kerry’s an inspiration. His ‘magic protein shakes’ really keep me going and I’m starting to look a bit more like I want to."

Five weeks in and Scott’s lost five inches from his waistline already. It’s a gruelling training programme. Scott reckons anyone can do it but is he being generous? Here’s a snippet of what he’s putting himself through.

Get up at 6am for a 40 minute workout – early morning exercise is good for fat burning. For breakfast, eight egg whites, two yolks, 50 gm porridge oats with semi skimmed milk and one of Kerry’s CNP Pro Peptide shakes. Then onto more training with Kerry before a recovery protein shake and the first proper meal of the day – steamed chicken with potatoes. And so the day goes on relentlessly, with meals and shakes and supplement pills every couple of hours.

“Kerry does recommend I eat lots of green vegetables as well,” says Scott. “But I hate vegetables so I do have a piece of fresh fruit now and again and I sprinkle wheat grass in my drinks, that’s green isn’t it?”

And at the end of the twelve weeks Scott gets to pose at a national bodybuilding competition alongside the real beefcakes. Thanks to the documentary we’ll all get to see Scott flexing his muscles and judge just how well he’s done.

“I totally love it,” says Scott. “In fact when this is finished I’m going to keep up with the bodybuilding and see just how far I can go until Kate gets fed up with the whole thing .”
