Utopia’s latest collection offers an innovative variation on the standard coupe plate, too
Utopia’s latest tableware, Core, combines matt and gloss finishes to create a standout collection that’s both elegant and striking. Core also has a new slant on the coupe plate: it takes the traditional shape and updates it with an edged conical rim, giving the Core coupe a look somewhere between a winged plate and the standard coupe.
The combination of matt and gloss finishes creates a sophisticated two-tone effect, which, as well as looking great, is very practical. Matt is hugely fashionable but it is more delicate than gloss, so has to be handled carefully and can suffer from scratches. Core pieces have matt on the outside, but their inside is gloss – so there’s no danger of heavy-handed diners damaging the finish with their knives! This makes it ideal for any busy restaurant looking for a practical, chic and contemporary tableware.
The coupe plate has been the on-trend choice for some time, so giving it a twist offers HoReCa operators the chance to develop that elusive point of difference. There are four plate sizes, offering a choice of diameters from 17.5cm to 27cm. They are joined by one low-walled and two conical bowls, plus a conical dip pot. The tableware is made of superior stoneware, offering quality and durability. All pieces are dishwash safe.
Core comes in three distinctively earthy colourways, stone, mint and slate. The choice of colours, sizes and heights gives operators a wide range of options for mixing and matching to create a dynamic tabletop presentation.
“Matt is the tableware finish of the moment,” says Josh Rammell, marketing manager at Utopia. “Core’s two-tone format, with matt outside and gloss in, is simple yet sophisticated, creating a very contemporary aesthetic that’s also brilliantly functional.” Core tableware is packed in boxes of six, except for the smaller conical bowl (12cm) and the dip pot, which come in packs of twelve.
