Espresso and filter from one machine: innovation for mavericks from Caffeine Ltd

Powerful new espresso machine from Victoria Arduino raises the game for coffee

Caffeine Ltd is supplying the advanced and stylish Black Eagle Maverick from Victoria Arduino.

The Black Eagle Maverick is the evolution of the company’s Black Eagle, which was the official coffee machine of the World Barista Championship between 2013 and 2021. It has been designed to provide baristas with enormous control over the brewing process, enabling them to make a range of coffee drinks to their precise requirements.

A key feature is the Maverick’s PureBrew system.  This brand new function for the market means operators can make filter coffee as well as espresso from the one machine. Usually, to make filter coffee, operators have to have a bulk brewer, which takes up space, or other gadgets which can be fiddly. The Black Eagle Maverick allows them to make a single dose of filter coffee through a group head.

With a history stretching back to 1905, Victoria Arduino is one of the pioneers of espresso machines and is used by some of the world’s best baristas. The PureBrew system is a powerful three phase extraction method that uses careful modulation of the water pressure to guarantee the perfect brew every time. The first stage uses slow, low pressure pulses to allow the ground coffee to fully absorb the water. The second stage uses rapid, high pressure pulses to extract flavours and oils from the coffee, before reducing the pulse frequency to stop acidic compounds from being extracted. The final result can be defined by either volume or weight of the coffee, using scales built in to the drip tray.

It can be set to run automatically or be switched off at any stage of the process allowing baristas complete control over every cup and allowing for a huge variety of flavour profiles to be created.

Custom recipes can be stored and activated whenever required through the intuitive touchscreen control display or through a smartphone via a specially developed app, allowing for less skilled staff to create high quality drinks easily.

Incorporating the newly developed T3 Genius temperature control system, the Maverick uses 37% less energy than its predecessor. An energy recovery system uses heat from waste water, which usually gets dumped down the drip tray, to pre-heat the incoming cold water supply, without using any extra power.  By the time the cold water reaches the boiler it is close to 60°C, meaning the boiler is pretty much heated up and ready to go, needing little more energy to get to temperature.

The Black Eagle Maverick is available in two and three group models and three striking colour finishes – matt black, shiny white and classic chrome.
