Space tight? Go over the top

FEM introduces Manitowoc Ice’s top air discharge kit to increase installation options

FEM (Foodservice Equipment Marketing) distributes the Indigo NXT series of modular ice makers from Manitowoc Ice. To make installation of these Manitowoc Ice machines even easier FEM has introduced the Indigo NXT top air discharge kit, an accessory that allows the hot air discharged from the ice machine to be redirected out of the top of the unit.

The Indigo NXT models are among the most popular cube ice machines on the market, known for their energy efficiency, advanced technology, and user-friendly interface. Their programmable ice production and scheduling – including documenting ice volume, the on/off time and bin level – help curb the day-to-day running costs of an operation by reducing water consumption as well as energy use.

The new hot air discharge kit is especially useful in situations where it’s not practical to discharge the hot air from the sides or rear of the machine. It’s ideal for locations where space on the side of the machine is less than 8” for Indigo NXT Series 0450-1200 or 12” for Indigo NXT Series 0420, 0620, 1500 and 1900.

Proper ventilation and heat dissipation are essential for the optimal performance of an ice maker. In poorly ventilated areas the top air discharge kit can enhance the airflow around the machine.  This can help it operate more efficiently by dissipating the hot air away from the unit, reducing the risk of overheating and potential damage.

With a top air discharge kit, the ice machine can maintain a consistent and appropriate operating temperature, leading to improved ice production and quality. In addition, while using a top air discharge kit gives more flexibility in the initial siting of the machine, it does not compromise its efficiency.

The kit comprises two solid stainless steel side panels and one louvered stainless steel top.  No extra hardware is needed. FEM supplies five sizes of the top air discharge kit suitable for Indigo NXT models iT0420, iT0620, iT0450, iT0500, iF0600, iF0900, iF1200, iT1500 and iT1900. These modular ice makers have capacities ranging from 204 – 828kg of ice production in 24 hours.
