KP day 2023 aims to celebrate kitchen porters and raise money for a great cause
If you’ve got a great kitchen porter, June 22nd is the day you can let the world know. That’s the date of the tenth KP Day, organised by Winterhalter to celebrate the importance of KPs to foodservice. And for every picture of a KP posted on Instagram or Twitter the company will make a donation to Hospitality Action.
“KP day is a way of raising the profile of the amazing work KPs do, day in day out, in a fun way,” says Stephen Kinkead, managing director of Winterhalter UK. “We’ve had some amazing pictures down the years, and every contribution raises money for a great cause.”
Hospitality Action provides vital support for people who work, or have worked, in the UK’s hospitality industry and who find themselves in crisis. They provide emergency grants for those in need, support for retired workers and education for catering students at the start of their career.
“Winterhalter has been a staunch supporter for many years,” says Mark Lewis, chief executive of Hospitality Action. “We’re grateful to them for having been picked as the nominated charity for KP Day once again, thanks to them we’re able to transform the lives of hospitality employees who have fallen on hard times.”
KP Day is open to the whole foodservice industry. No matter what kind of kitchen you run, if you’ve got a KP you can join in the fun.
To take part, simply share a picture to @winterhalteruk of your kitchen porters on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #kpday. For every photograph, Winterhalter will donate £2.50 to Hospitality Action, up to a maximum of £500.
As well as raising money for Hospitality Action, each photo of a kitchen porter will also be uploaded to the KP gallery at KPoftheYear.com.
