Coffee, alcohol, ice – action!

Scotsman demos coffee mixology at the London Coffee Festival

Stand SO4, London Coffee Festival, The Truman Brewery, London, 20-23 April 2023

There’s a lot going on in the coffee and cocktails / mocktails scene right now – and mixology will be a focus of the Scotsman stand at the London Coffee Festival 2023.   Top barista Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion 2016, will be showing how it’s done with a variety of alcoholic and soft coffee-based beverages.  He’ll be using his ice of choice … Scotsman, of course!

Alongside Michalis, ice experts from Scotsman’s UK distributor, Hubbard Systems, will be on hand to discuss all applications of ice in coffee service.

Also on stand is the next generation ice machine, the Scotsman Legacy.  This latest undercounter model is ideal for coffee shops, making crystal clear, long lasting gourmet ‘supercube’ ice cubes that look fabulous and won’t dilute the drink.  It’s not only the ice that looks great – the Legacy features a striking angular design with 3-D vents and a black fascia making it ideal for front of house.

The mixology demos take place late afternoon.  Earlier each day Michalis will be giving visitors the latest expert advice on iced coffee, showing how to create the best results and offering tips and advice on new recipes and concepts.  He’ll cover cold drip, espresso brew and cold brew, as well as looking at blended drinks.

The main three ice types used for coffee are gourmet cubes, nugget ice and dice cubes. “Iced coffee is popular year round,” says Michalis.  “Coffee lovers are becoming more demanding and expect iced coffee to be, like its hot sibling, barista-quality.  So baristas need to understand their various ice types as well as they know their different bean roasts!”

Hubbard Systems is the UK distributor for the market-leading Scotsman range of icemakers and the Friulinox range of refrigeration products.  The company also distributes the Evox line of vacuum packers, manufactured by Orved.  All three ranges are available via dealers nationwide.  Hubbard Systems is part of HTG Trading Ltd.  For more information and details of local stockists, call Hubbard Systems on 01473 350045, email sales@hubbardsystems.co.uk or visit www.scotsman-ice.co.uk
