Pooch Pride: Mannington wants Norfolk’s most marvellous mutts

September 5th Charity Day includes a pooch-tastic family dog show!

Got a much loved labrador?  An agile airedale?  A nimble Norfolk terrier? A magnificent mongrel?  If you’re proud of your pooch, don’t be shy, a big feature of the Mannington Hall Charity Day on September 5th will be a family dog show with lots of different categories.  “If you’ve got a delightful dog, bring them along,” says Sue Mumford, one of the event organisers.  “Even if you’re the only one who thinks they’re delightful!”

The event also sees lots of other entertainment, including live music, birds of prey, cooking demos and more than thirty craft stalls.  For children there’s loads to do, including face painting, a treasure hunt, storytelling and Ethiopian craft activities.  For the young at heart there’s a plate-smashing stall.

As for dog lovers, there’s sure to be a something to suit you and your best friend – and no advance prep is required.  There are ten doggy categories available:

  1. Waggiest tail
    2. Fastest sausage eater
    3. Looks most like owner
    4. Best rescue
    5. Best senior
    6. Musical sit
    7. Best trick/special talent
    8. Most mysterious heritage
    9. Smoothest coat
    10. Best biscuit catcher

The Charity Day, generously hosted by Lady Walpole, is being run by Norfolk-based charity Hospice Ethiopia UK, of which Sue Mumford is chair.  In all there will be twenty charity stalls on the day, raising funds for a huge variety of causes.

The Hall’s café will provide teas, cakes and light meals.  There’s also the option to pre-order a picnic, for £12, which will be delivered by your personal picnic butler (contact  info@hospiceethiopia.org.uk to book up).

Entrance to the Mannington Hall Charity Day is £6 for adults, with children under 16 free.  The Hall will also be open to visitors, for a fee of £3.
