The Rational solution for the world’s favourite foods-to-go

Multifunctional appliances can satisfy the demands for the world’s most popular takeaway foods

Recent research on the world’s most popular takeaway meals demonstrates the universal appeal of certain kinds of food.  The research underlines the importance of multifunctional appliances in allowing businesses to meet the diverse tastes of customers, according to Stephan Leuschner, director of international key accounts at Rational.

The research was carried out by Moneybeach in January 2021.  Globally speaking, the two most popular foods for takeaway and delivery are pizza and Chinese. Pizza dominates most of Europe along with India, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Thailand, while Chinese food finds most favour in the US and Mexico, Great Britain and Ireland, China, Australia and Nigeria. There are a few surprising variations – for example, Tapas is top in Denmark, while Brazil and Sweden pick Sushi, Turkey’s favourite takeaway is pasta and Russia plumps for kebab more than anybody.

“What these dishes have in common is they are easy to prepare, can be brought to temperature quickly, and look appetising once they’ve been delivered to a customer’s home,” says Leuschner. “A variety of cuisines have become international staples.  That means operators around the world have to be able to offer a diverse range of foods.”

The mix of demand goes hand in hand with a need for consistent results. “Customers want to be sure they’ll get the same quality of food every time they order from the same brand,” says Leuschner. “Equipment with intelligent cooking systems, like the iCombi Pro combi steamer from Rational, are perfect for this.”

The iCombi pro features four new intelligent systems that control every aspect of the cooking and operational processes. It comes with thousands of completely customisable recipes built in.  The cooking system’s powerful sensors make constant adjustments to the cooking conditions, guaranteeing perfectly consistent results.

“A single iCombi Pro can produce all of the world’s favourite takeaway dishes,” says Leuschner. “Thousands of dishes that can be prepared over and over again to precise requirements. Furthermore, the ability to update and add new recipes means that respondng to new trends is easy.”

With more businesses looking to meet the increased demand for takeaway and delivery service, equipment like the iCombi Pro is an excellent way of diversifying menus while guaranteeing the kind of consistent high quality results customers expect.
