British manufacturer fast-tracks large cabinet production to meet vaccine storage needs
The requirement for reliable medical refrigeration is likely to increase dramatically with the expected need to store the Covid-19 vaccines currently in development. Given the volumes involved, larger refrigerators and freezers are going to be essential. Consequently British refrigeration manufacturer Williams has fast tracked production of its new Medi+ two door cabinet, model WMP1295, which offers a high volume storage capacity of 1295 litres (45.7 cubic feet).
The recently launched Medi+ range combines heavy duty construction with ultra-reliable temperature stability, thanks to Williams’ proven Medi+ Controller. The Controller automatically monitors the fan, defrost and compressor ensuring that the critical storage temperature is never compromised. This makes Medi+ refrigerators and freezers ideal for all types of medical storage, such as temperature-sensitive vaccines and other high-value pharmaceuticals.
The two-door WMP1295 is available as either a refrigerator or a freezer. It has a stainless steel exterior and aluminium interior, providing a robust, durable and hygienic cabinet with easy to clean surfaces. Standard features include anti-tilt tray slides for safety, a removable racking system for ease of cleaning, and barrel locked doors for added security.
The Medi+ two-door cabinet is an environment-friendly refrigerator using a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant that not only has low GWP (Global Warming Potential) and zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) but also delivers superior thermal efficiency, reducing energy use. The cabinet features low heat, bright LED lighting, 80mm, high density foam injected insulation, and self-closing doors – all of which enhance its energy efficiency.
The WMP1295 has sleek, contemporary lines and full length, ‘easy grab’ integral door handles. The optional glass doors are both attractive and practical, offering staff the chance to check stock at a glance, without having to open the door. The two-door cabinet measures 1400mm wide by 854mm deep and 1960mm high. The refrigerator temperature range can be set at from +2°C to +8°C, while the freezer has a range of -18°C to -22°C.
“The Medi+ WMP1295 has been engineered to deliver totally reliable, consistent temperature stability” says Malcolm Harling, sales and marketing director at Williams. “In fact, the system is so effective that it can even operate in ambient temperatures up to 43°C.”
The NHS and other public sector organisations have access to the Williams Medi+ range via the ESPO Contract 98 and M98 Frameworks. The range features a choice of sizes to suit a wide range of applications, with single door cabinets and compact undercounter models available alongside the two-door WMP1295.
Williams has over 40 years’ experience of commercial refrigeration and all products in the Williams Medi+ range are manufactured in the UK.
