Winterhalter’s integral reverse osmosis warewashers win Product Excellence Award

Ground-breaking system impresses judges

uc-excellence caterer-product-excellence-award-2016It is generally understood that a reverse osmosis (RO) system coupled with a top quality warewasher is the way to get the best wash results. However in the past these systems have tended to be bulky, use lots of water and stretch beyond caterers’ budgets. But Winterhalter has bust this myth by developing the UC Excellence-iPlus machines featuring a hybrid technology combining an integral reverse osmosis and a water softener. It guarantees brilliant wash results every time, on budget and within a tight space.

This ground-breaking system has won The Caterer’s Product Excellence Award. In fact, this is the second award in just a few weeks, this system having already won the FCSI Sustainability Award, which was announced in November. The combination of water softener and reverse osmosis integrated into the wash process removes almost 100% of water impurities and delivers flawless wash results on glassware, cutlery and dishes, without the need for extra polishing. This saves staff time and speeds up turnaround of glasses and tableware.

The iPlus technology offers a variety of other benefits, including preventing blockages of the RO membrane, extending membrane life and ensuring perfect wash results from first wash to last.

The iPlus machines also feature VarioAqua.  This allows the user to select whether to use the RO system or not.  So less critical items can be washed using softened water only, which minimises running costs, while more important ones can have the full RO treatment, for sparkling results.

Compared to standard RO, the UC Excellence-iPlus saves at least 10% in water usage.

“At Winterhalter we strive to be ahead of the game and these machines are certainly doing that. The wash results are phenomenal. The UC Excellence-iPlus brings the advantages of reverse osmosis and water softening to tight counter areas because the system are fully integrated into the machine,”says Paul Crowley, marketing development manager of Winterhalter UK.

The Caterer Product Excellence Awards were announced at a ceremony at Westminster Kingsway College, London, on December 1st 2016.  The awards are judged by leading suppliers and foodservice operators.
