New Hamilton Beach rice cooker makes perfect rice every time

FEM supplies the Proctor Silex Rice Cooker from Hamilton BeachCooking rice can be difficult to get right. It requires precise timing and temperature control, or the end result is a sticky mess.

Proctor-Silex commercial rice cookers by Hamilton Beach, distributed in the UK by Foodservice Equipment Marketing (FEM), offer an affordable method of producing perfect rice time after time, and storing it in optimum conditions until required.

Two models are available, one with 9 litres – a capacity equivalent to 40 cups of cooked rice and one with 14 litres, or 60 cups. A measuring cup and paddle is included with the cooker, enabling precise control of portions. Control is simple, with one switch for changing between cooking and warming mode. Once the cooking program completes, the cooker automatically switches to warming mode, removing the need to keep constant watch to prevent burning or sticking. Red and green LEDs provide clear visual confirmation of which mode is currently active.

The insulated double-wall structure keeps the exterior cool while maintaining the contents at perfect serving temperature. Inside, there is a non-stick aluminium inner pot which is removable, for ease of cleaning. The inner pot also has visible water-line markings to enable accurate liquid measurements. The inner lid is detachable for cleaning.

The cookers are fitted with condensation collection systems, which collect water released during cooking, to keep counters clean and dry. The collection trays are removable for emptying excess water.

As well as being ideal for cooking a wide variety of rice, from white and brown to basmati and jasmine, the rice cooker can also accommodate porridge, oatmeal, couscous, quinoa and macaroni & cheese.

The 9 litre model is 41cm (w) x 41cm (d) x 33.5cm (h) and costs £245, while the 14 litre model is 46cm (w) x 460cm (d) x 39cm (h), costing £295.
