Rational: 600,000 for 1

Rational has just delivered its 600,000th combi steamer.  The SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency (model SCC WE 101) 10 grid unit was installed in November into The Savoy, Strand, London, under the watchful eye of executive chef James Pare.

“The 600,000th Rational?  That’s very impressive,” says James.  “It just goes to show the proof is in the pudding!  It’s an amazing product.   I can cook things the way I want to cook them.  We can use the SelfCooking Controls, for example for events, or I can customise them for my own operation.”

Lee Norton, managing director of Rational UK, was delighted to have the 600,000th unit installed in Great Britain, especially in such a prestigious site.  “It’s a feather in our cap.  Rational invented the combi steamer back in 1976 and has stayed at the leading edge of the technology by focusing on the one product.  We can be best because it’s the only thing we do.  That’s why Rational has over 50% of the UK market.”

The Rational at The Savoy was installed by TAG Catering Equipment UK Ltd.  Managing director Martin Stephens-Smith says, “The flexibility the SelfCookingCenter gives, especially for the hotel’s short service menu, was a key issue – that’s why they replaced the previous combis, which were only a couple of years old, with Rational.”
