Winterhalter increases the rack speed on its MTR range of rack conveyor dishwashers
Hospital catering operations create huge quantities of dirty dishes that need to be washed fast so they are ready for the next mealtime. However hospitals cannot risk compromising on hygiene for the sake of a quick turnaround.
To address this problem Winterhalter, the warewashing specialist, has re-engineered the wash arms on its MTR range of rack conveyor dishwashers so the speed of throughput can be considerably increased while at the same time achieving outstanding wash results.
The MTR range takes care of all the dishwashing needs of a high volume kitchen. The machines are simple to use, energy efficient, economical to run and are designed to offer the ultimate in hygiene, performance and reliability.
The new speeds make the smallest MTR2 capable of processing up to 155 racks per hour while the largest MTR4 can now process up to 350 racks per hour.
To mimimise operating costs the Mediamat washwater filtration removes contaminating particles permanently from the tank water – reducing water, power, and detergent consumption throughout the operating cycle. Winterhalter’s OptiWash feature adjusts the rinse aid intake, jet pressure and jet angle for the maximum wash effectiveness.
Further savings are achieved with an exhaust air heat recovery system that uses the energy of the machine’s warm exhaust air to pre-heat incoming water.
The MTR is a modular system comprising of different zones: the loading zone, the pre-wash zone, the main wash zone, the rinse zone, the drying zone and the unloading zone. A contents-controlled zone activation system only operates pumps and fans in each zone if loaded racks are actually present.
The MTR machines are a big hit with staff as a time-controlled start-up allows the machine to fill and heat up automatically before they start their shift. Meanwhile Autoclean – an automatic self-cleaning system – ensures the machine is cleaned with hot fresh water at the end of the washing day, minimising the need for manual cleaning.
A SmartTouch multifunctional, multilingual touch screen has self-explanatory symbols and animations to help eliminate operator errors – this is especially useful for temporary, new or foreign staff, who may not be familiar with the machine. The SelfControl hygiene log stores all HACCP and relevant hygiene data in the machine to be retrieved at any convenient time.
