Expanding coffee chain says True refrigeration delivers the right balance of quality, affordability and aesthetics
The Streat is a coffee shop with a difference. The Ireland-based chain, which also has sites in Scotland and is looking to expand through England and Wales, mixes a relaxed attitude with continental flair. Its bold colours and distinctive logo make it instantly recognisable – a typical Streat combines a deli, sandwich bar and coffee shop, offering everything from food to go to a sit down meal. Produce is local, bread and cakes are baked on site and the Streat has its own coffee blend.
The emphasis is on fresh food and, when it comes to storing it, The Streat specifies True Refrigeration.
“Our menu offers an eclectic mix of meals and snacks,” says Barry Kelly, business development manager for the chain. “Customers are as likely to ask in the morning for porridge or a cream cheese bagel or a full breakfast. They know what to expect from a Streat site: great quality.”
The chain’s prime aim is to grow as a franchise – which means choice of equipment is critical. “We need to maintain the brand image, so catering equipment, including refrigeration, has to be good quality, because it has to deliver quality. We also want to give our franchisees a cost effective solution, and one that really works, which is why we insist on the best warranties and service cover for our catering equipment. Staff don’t want to come in to the kitchen first thing and find the door hanging off a fridge or a freezer that’s gone into meltdown.
“True’s refrigeration is very reliable, has a three year warranty with five on compressors, and pulls down to temperature quickly.”
The Streat uses True upright fridges and freezers as well as counters and, in some sites, prep counters. The products also fit the chain’s commitment to sustainability: True’s heavy duty systems reduce run times and thus minimise energy consumption.
“When it comes to specifying equipment, it’s all about getting the balance right in terms of quality, affordability and aesthetics. True refrigeration matches all three aims consistently,” says Barry Kelly.
The True products are supplied through The Galgorm Group, the commercial catering specialist based in Ballymena. Contract sales consultant Raymond McDyer handles The Streat account. He says: “True equipment is right up there with the best. It’s well-built, reliable and won’t let you down. That’s why we recommend it to The Streat.”
True refrigeration at The Streat:
The upright cabinets used in The Streat are True’s T19 fridges and freezers, single door units with a capacity of 538 litres. The counters are mainly three-door TGU3 models, with capacities of 456 litres. True’s prep counters offer a wide range of options, such as extra deep work surfaces and flexible pan configurations, so units can be adapted to suit the site.
