TouchClean® treated Hospital Pagers beat Infection – without Antiseptic Sprays

TouchClean treated MediCall™ Pagers kill germs, fungi and viruses, protecting users from cross-contamination and infection

CST’s MediCall™ Hospital Outpatient Pagers with TouchClean® beat Infection without Antiseptic Sprays

Call Systems Technology’s newest MediCall outpatient pager has a TouchClean long-life light-activated coating applied over the entire pager surface which destroys bacteria, fungi and viruses with no need to spray or wipe between uses.

The MediCall TouchClean-treated pagers protect outpatients and staff from transferred germs in hospital clinics, imaging and outpatient departments, where they are used to maximise staff efficiency and minimise waiting room queues.

The new outpatient pagers are available exclusively through Call Systems Technology (CST). Outpatient pagers allow patients, and their companions, the freedom to leave a waiting area secure in the knowledge that they are in a managed queue and will be notified when to return for their appointments. They are also discreet, avoiding the potential embarrassment caused by calling out patients’ names in the waiting room.

The new MediCall pagers are IP54 rated against water and dust particles and are delivered pre-treated with TouchClean, which conforms to EN13697:2001, and lasts for many years. TouchClean successfully eliminates MRSA, C Difficile, E Coli, SARS, Listeria and other bacteria and viruses. It also treats fungi, odours, smoke and other pollutants keeping the pager fresh at all times.

Lab tests and installations of the TouchClean treatment have proved its efficacy. TouchClean is currently used to enhance hygiene in hospitals including the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle on Tyne and the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. (See notes.)

For ease of use, the MediCall pagers also feature a 10 second speech message module that can be pre-set with useful phrases such as “please return to reception for your appointment” or “your prescription is ready”.

The powerful MediCall transmitter gives excellent, wide area site coverage and allows ‘over the air’ pager programming for easy device renumbering, volume settings, alerts or reminders. The pagers can be programmed as vibration-only, with tone and flash alerts or with the 10-second voice messages.

Call Systems Technology’s hospital paging systems are widely used in Admissions, A&E departments, Outpatient, Phlebotomy, Pharmacology and Imaging Clinics and Same Day Surgery to improve the patient experience, minimise waiting room queuing and increase nursing efficiency. By eliminating crowded waiting areas, patients receive better care in a stress-free environment.

Notes:

An independent chemical analysis demonstrated TouchClean’s efficacy on Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. A description of TouchClean technology, including test results, is available on request from CST.

TouchClean is in service at The Freeman Hospital, Newcastle on Tyne, on all door furniture (handles etc) and in a toilet at St Ebba’s Hospital, Epsom. After six months continual use, the toilet still smelled fresh and clean, leading the hospital estates department to request treatment of three other toilets and four bathrooms.
