Precision Fridges: Hand Built By Robots

Precision Refrigeration's head office British refrigeration manufacturer invests in high tech metal working systems

Thetford-based Precision has invested in two technologically advanced systems for punching and folding the stainless steel sheets used in the manufacture of its range of commercial refrigeration. Developed by Salvagnini, the high-precision machines are designed to guarantee quality, reliability and consistency. They will also speed up manufacturing and will give Precision the opportunity to expand output.

The new machines are part of an ambitious multi-million pound investment programme as Precison targets growth at home and overseas.

“Like for like sales are up 60% over the past 12 months,” says Jeremy Hall, sales director. “In order to meet increasing demand, we had to increase our production potential. These high tech machines give us the capacity to double production out of the same factory space.”

Salvagnini is recognised as the world’s leading manufacturer of metal punching and folding systems. “They are incredibly accurate and precise, but also highly flexible: their programs can quickly be changed for different products,” says Hall. “They minimise handling while maximising the amount of usable material we get from each metal sheet – although they represent our biggest ever investment in machinery, we expect a very fast pay back.”

Installing, commissioning and training on the machines has taken over six weeks and the line is now up and running.
