Winterhalter’s latest system is flexible, fast and energy-saving
Winterhalter has launched a ‘TwinSet’ version of its Energy+ GS 515 pass through dishwasher. The TwinSet links two GS 515 units together, side by side, allowing combined operation but with the option of using one machine alone during quieter periods.
The TwinSet offers many benefits, especially in sites where space is limited and workloads are highly variable. Compared to two separate pass through machines, the TwinSet allows operators to work more quickly and process more racks during busy times. This is because both hoods can be opened at the same time, allowing simultaneous loading and unloading. It also saves space, since both machines use the same feed-in and unload areas.
Meanwhile the TwinSet offers a flexible alternative to a full conveyor warewasher system, since it can adapt to peaks and troughs of work. In slack periods, when only one machine is required, it saves 50% in terms of energy, water and chemical consumption.
The GS 515 Energy+ units in the new TwinSet feature Winterhalter’s specially developed heat exchangers. These recycle energy from the steam and wastewater, using it to heat the incoming cold water. They also have a new rinse system that means the dishwashers consume less water, energy and chemicals. Combined, these features can save well over £1,000 per year in running costs, for each GS 515, based on current energy costs.
The TwinSet’s GS 515 Energy+ dishwashers can handle racks up to a maximum size of 500 x 600mm and each has a theoretical capacity of 70 racks per hour.
Winterhalter provides a total solution for warewashing, from pre-sales advice to after-sales service, training and maintenance. Alongside its market-leading dish and glasswashers, the company’s range includes utensil washers, advanced water treatment machines, cleaning chemicals and detergents. Editor’s Notes
Inside the Energy+ is an air-to-water heat exchanger that takes the waste steam from a GS 500 Series pass through dishwasher and uses it to heat the incoming fresh water. An additional water-to-water heat exchanger recycles the heat from the wastewater, using it to further heat the incoming fresh water. The Energy+ system reduces the total connected load by up to 6 kW.
The new rinse system uses a radical new rinse arm design that significantly reduces water consumption. Since the unit uses less water, it also uses less energy (which is required to heat the water), less detergent and less rinse aid.
