CKS temporary kitchens bring brand names and brand-name quality standards to festival sites
Music festivals have really taken off. There are over a hundred in the summer months in the UK alone and the festival environment is seen as a good place to advertise. Food companies have progressed festival catering from basic burgers (veggie and otherwise) to sophisticated dishes from across the globe. Brand names sponsor some major festivals and some leading restaurant chains open themed areas to attract customers and push their products.
But a foodservice offering is only as good as the kitchen behind it, which, at festivals has to function in the middle of a field or park, sometimes away from major utilities. Container Kitchen Systems (CKS) is a specialist in mobile kitchen units and has plenty of experience in supplying high spec kitchens for festivals and open air events. The company has installed temporary kitchens at top festivals such as Glastonbury, Hyde Park and the Farnborough Air Show and has units that can cope with a throughput of 30,000 meals per day.
“When supplying kitchens to brand names for festival catering we need to be able to replicate everything that their chefs are used to,” explains Mark Kingston of CKS. “Companies bring in staff from around the UK and Europe and they all need to be able to get to work instantly. They want to use equipment they are familiar with, without needing any training. Their customers expect to be able to order their favourites – and they know exactly how it should taste and be served.”
CKS kitchens modules are delivered on-site fully equipped and ready-to-use, they can be up and running within 24 hours of receiving an order. Their modular design means they can be linked together or even stacked one on top of the other, depending on space limitations. All are designed to meet the latest Food and Hygiene Regulations.
Sizes range from the small 3.8m x 2.8m kitchen with a serving hatch and enough space for two chefs to work alongside each other to the large 8.6m x 2.8m module for up to six chefs. CKS also supply storage units and washing-up facilities complete with rack dishwashers.
CKS also has an online assistance to help catering managers choose exactly what they need to get their festival kitchen rocking.
CKS is one of the UK’s leading temporary kitchen specialists. The company also offers a professional kitchen installation service and operates a catering equipment maintenance division.
