Winterhalter UC Series Highly Commended at Prestigious Awards
Winterhalter‘s new UC Series of undercounter warewashers came highly commended at FCSI’s annual conference 2009, being applauded for its sustainability and energy-efficiency.
The FCSI’s (Foodservice Consultants Society International) ‘Sustainable Catering Equipment Award’ is given for a product that is sustainable in its practical application and use, as well as recognising innovation, forward-thinking and excellence in providing solutions to everyday catering issues and concerns. Winterhalter’s new UC under-counter warewash series, launched in October this year, opitimises this by saving water, energy, CO2 emissions and chemicals.
Winterhalter has developed new technologies to meet the demands of its customers. The UC Series sets the standards in ease of operation, quality washing results, ease of maintenance, and low running costs. According to FCSI judges, Winterhalter were nominated for a commendation as a ‘result of their time and effort spent on the development of the new UC Series dishwashers’, looking at ‘the full operation of the machine from start to finish’.
Winterhalter is at the forefront of resource efficiency and is committed to reducing energy, water and chemical usage. The UC Series offers a variety of resource and cost saving features – for example, each washing program has an optional ‘Eco’ mode that minimises resource consumption while extending the washing cycle, saving up to 11% in running costs.
The UC Series uses as little as 2.4 litres of water per cycle but still cleans effectively thanks to radical new ‘elliptic’ wash arms and a four-stage filtration system. Less water means less energy is required for heating and fewer chemicals for cleaning.
The UC’s ultra-efficient ‘Energy’ model can save 2920kWh annually. This equates to a saving of about 1,000kg (0.001kt) of CO2 per year, assuming it processes 80 racks per day.
The UC Series is part of Winterhalter’s IRT (Intelligent Resource Technology) project, aimed at reducing the consumption of water, power and chemicals in warewashing. The machines are available through authorised dealers.
