A word to the unbelievers getting upset about the fame of ‘unfriend’as word of the year. Social media isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s popular. According to Nielsen, two thirds of computer users visit a social network site every day. The slang they create has got just as much right to mug its way into the language as anyone else’s. Given the numbers involved, it’s probably got MORE right, IMHO. The problem is, ‘unfriend’ seems a tad dull to be given such an accolade.
