Staff at a West Norfolk company have split a £6,000 charity ‘pot’ between two Norfolk charities, Break and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). Adrian Flux Insurance Services, which is based at East Winch and employs over 400 people, uses a percentage of commissions from one of its associate companies to fund the pot. Every few months the money raised is donated to charities chosen by the staff.
"When we have a really big pot, we like to give it to local causes," explains Penny Smith of Adrian Flux. "This is one of our biggest ever! Break and EACH are both wonderful charities doing fantastic work in East Anglia. They’ll put the money to great use."
EACH supports families caring for children with life-threatening conditions and complex healthcare needs. It relies on public support for around 72% of its income. Break helps vulnerable people in the local community – those with learning difficulties, young people who need a home, women with mental health needs, children and babies who are in danger.
On September 30th Break’s director of corporate services, Don Evans, and Carl Brooks, corporate fundraiser for EACH, met with Penny Smith at Flux’s head office, East Winch Hall, to pick up cheques for £3,015 each.
"Break relies on voluntary income to support our wide-ranging work with highly vulnerable children and adults," said Don Evans. "In the current economic climate, fundraising presents us with significant challenges and as such we are extremely grateful to everyone at Adrian Flux for their generosity."
Carl Brooks agreed. "We need to raise £5.8million per year to fund our work, ranging from care at end of life and specialist therapy to telephone support, practical help, advice and information and bereavement support for family members. It is fantastic that companies like Flux are still able to support EACH financially."
