More Choice For Caravan Storage
Sorting caravan storage over the winter months can cause owners several dilemmas. One alternative is to park up the caravan on a driveway at the owner’s home. But then there is the risk of annoying neighbours or breaking covenants on the property. Plus an even more worrying aspect is that when the caravan is taken away on a trip it alerts potential burglars that the house is empty.
Another solution is to put the caravan onto a secure storage site. Once again though, owners may run into problems. Most insurers insist that the caravan is on a Caravan Storage Site Owners’ Association (CaSSOA) approved site or they will not offer insurance but approved sites are not always where people want to store their caravans.
"We’ve had lots of enquiries from customers who want to store their caravans on unapproved sites because they are more conveniently located or more competitively priced than approved sites," says Julie Carter of Adrian Flux Insurance Services. "But some of them are having problems getting quotes."
However Flux uses modern technology such as Google Earth and Google Streetmap to check out the area and assess the risk. This makes it possible for Flux to offer cover on unapproved sites where previously they would have declined to quote.
Using security devices such as wheel clamps, trackers and so on can also help to reduce premiums and make getting insurance on these sites easier.
Flux offers a wide range of policies for caravans, campervans and motorhomes including competitive schemes for tourers, statics, foreign caravans, fifth wheels and foreign marques.
