CNP launches Pro Hydrate – a hypotonic drink with carbs and protein.

CNP launches Pro Hydrate Endurance athletes such as distance runners, cyclists and triathletes need to keep hydrated. If they succumb to dehydration they have no choice but to pull out of their event or training. It only takes a 2% loss in hydration to cause a 10% loss in performance so optimum hydration is essential for serious results. But water alone is not enough to maintain the correct chemical balance in the body.

CNP Professional, a specialist in sports nutrition, has launched Pro Hydrate, a hypotonic drink formulated for hydration and energy that is especially suitable for endurance athletes. Pro Hydrate is a complex carbohydrate drink with added protein which will provide sustained energy for exercise plus electrolytes to replace lost salts and improve hydration. Taurine, an amino acid, has been included to further boost hydration and to combat muscle tiredness by encouraging blood flow.

Pro Hydrate actively pushes fluids and carbohydrates into the blood and cells to ensure optimum hydration. It outperforms water or isotonic drinks which do not flow into the blood until you start to become dehydrated. Also Pro Hydrate is easily absorbed without bloating.

“To make a super efficient drink we’ve added protein to the carbohydrates in Pro Hydrate,” explains Kerry Kayes, founder of CNP. “This means Pro Hydrate is absorbed into the blood stream extremely quickly to prevent dehydration occurring in the first place.”

Available in two flavours, Berry and Orange, Pro Hydrate is supplied in powered form and is very easy to use. Simply add two scoops to 500ml of water and shake. Drink 500ml shortly before exercise to optimise carbohydrate stores and ensure hydration, then drink 125 – 150ml every 15 to 20 minutes during exercise to provide optimum delivery of time-released energy.

For convenience CNP has also launched drinks bottles specifically designed for Pro Hydrate. They are available in two sizes 1000ml and 750ml. The 750ml bottle fits into most standard bike bottle cages.

Ingredients are maltodextrin, taurine, citric acid, trisodium citrate (acidity regulator) berry/orange flavour, sodium chloride, anthrocyanin/beta carotene (colour), potassium chloride and sucralose (sweetner). A typical serving of 40.5gm contains 141kcal, 7.4gm of protein, 27.9gm of carbohydrate, 0.17gm sodium and no fibre or fat.

Pro Hydrate is available through high street outlets at a rrp of £9.99 and from CNP’s website www.cnpprofessional.co.uk for a discounted price of £7.99. The 1000ml and 750ml drinks bottles are available for £3.99 and £3.50 respectively through high street outlets and at a 20% discount of £3.20 and £2.80 from www.cnpprofessional.co.uk.
