The village pantomime is an essential element of rural English life, and never more so than in Norfolk, where village theatre is alive and well.
The Publicity Works is based in Colby, which is more of a hamlet than a village. You’d think that any place called ‘hamlet’ would have a thriving dramatic society, but not Colby.
So our staff join in with nearby Aldborough, as stars of the Aldborough Players.
This year the story was Hansel & Gretel. Wonderful costumes and stunning stage sets supported a script that (naturally) put the Bard of Avon to shame.
But I liked the makeup best. Tim played wicked witch ‘Baba Yaga’, looking every inch a green-faced Ozzie Osbourne.
Meanwhile, Fiona appears in a cameo as the sports queen ‘Two Left Feet’ (the role she was born to play), sporting a stylish piece of workout merchandise from CNP Professional.
