The Adrian Flux French Car Show 2009, Rockingham Race Circuit, Sunday June 14th
This year’s Adrian Flux French Car Show takes place on Sunday June 14th at Rockingham. For 2009 visitors can not only drive the 150mph touring car race circuit (Europe’s fastest), they can also get a ‘hot ride’ as a passenger in an ex-works rally car.
While the main attraction remains the display of rocking Renaults, sexy Citroens and pugnacious Peugeots, the thrills and spills of rallying add a new, exciting edge to the show. Rockingham’s rally stage, adjacent to the main grandstand, is hosting both the hot rides and a demo rally. Other show highlights include 180mph ‘days of thunder’ Nascar cars on the main circuit and the infamous Over The Top stunt team in the paddock.
The familiar French Car Show favourites are back – including the clubs, the show cars, the traders and the fabulous Flux Babes, who’ll be giving away bags of freebies as well as offering insurance advice and on-the-spot quotes from show sponsor Adrian Flux Insurance Services.
"Each year the show gets bigger and better," says organiser Mark Dow. "But last year’s event set a benchmark that’s going to be very hard to beat. That’s why we’ve brought in the extra features like the rally, the hot rides and the OTT stunt guys. They should make for a really electrifying show!"
The mix of attractions is why the Adrian Flux French Car Show appeals as much to families as to petrol heads. "It’s a fun event that draws a great cross section of people, which is a big reason for us continuing to support it," admits Flux’s Gerry Bucke. "Of course, we also insure a lot of French cars – especially modifieds, hot hatches and classics – so it’s great for giving us profile in the market. And it helps that every year we have such a blast at the show!"
There are several changes to the 2009 show. Responding to visitor’s feedback, the organisers have shifted the trade village and show cars from the centre of the circuit to the area at the front of the stadium. This means there’s no need for visitors to walk through the Rockingham tunnel to get to the village. There’s also a new, dedicated campsite for visitors about 20 minutes drive from Rockingham. Says Mark Dow: "The site has beautiful grounds with a lake and all sorts of features including a roller coaster, which should keep kids of all ages happy!"
Tickets for the Adrian Flux French Car Show cost £12.50 in advance, or £15 on the gate, and under-14s go free. Camping costs £15 per car of up to four people. Book in advance through www.frenchcarshow.co.uk and get priority car parking and a free window sticker.
