I just noticed that cheapo retail chain Poundland has a blog – www.poundlandblog.co.uk -and is using it to publish its special offers.
This is the first example I’ve seen of blogs as a promotional tool by retailers. It’s a bit too ‘enthusiastic’ and fiercely promotional – every entry is a plug for a special offer – and there are too many pictures in my view, so it’s not a compelling read.
It’s an interesting idea that won’t do their profile any harm. However, they could do with ‘leavening’ the blog by writing a bit more about their company and not making every entry about this week’s special offers.
