From CCTV to Video Analytics and the Virtual Turnstile:

SST is developing high tech security systems to protect businesses New range of high-tech security products for the hospitality market help tackle 20% rise in crime
Hospitality communications specialist CST (Call-Systems Technology) has launched a new division specialising in high tech security systems. Its portfolio includes video analytics, which can automatically monitor areas and warn of unusual behaviour, and a virtual turnstile that can control access to venues with no need for a physical barrier.

The division, called Security-Systems Technology (SST), will work alongside CST to provide complete security and communications packages for the hospitality industry. The launch follows CST’s acquisition of a specialist security systems company.

"The SST portfolio complements our current range of communications and software systems," says Ashley Sheppard, Sales Director of CST. "Our expertise in the hospitality sector, combined with SST’s ground-breaking security products, allows us to offer a uniquely integrated and powerful portfolio of communications and security products and systems.

"We are already building on SST’s in-house expertise and innovative product research programme to develop new hospitality-specific solutions."

SST’s core business is CCTV systems, which the company offers in a wide range to suit any application and budget, from standard analogue cameras right up to military specification thermal imaging units. All systems are supplied, installed and maintained by SST’s highly experienced engineers.
Crimes against business cost the UK £12.6billion every year, according to the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC), a figure that has risen by 20% since 2004 (BCC Business Crime Survey, 2008). Meanwhile it is generally agreed that CCTV systems have been very successful in reducing non-drinks related crimes, providing an immediate deterrent that protects businesses from vandalism and theft.

"Closed circuit TV has made huge advances since the days of hazy, grainy black and white images," says Ashley Sheppard. "Our SST portfolio incorporates a huge range of features, such as automatic number plate recognition, and provides a real, effective and highly visible deterrent."

SST’s innovative work in areas such as video analytics offer major security benefits, he adds. "The virtual turnstile is a pioneering access control system that combines several of SST’s developments to offer a modern and more effective alternative to the traditional turnstile."
